Texas HICAP (Health Information, Counseling and Advocacy Program)
Texas's free, unbiased Medicare counseling program. Counselors help with plan choices, bills, appeals and Extra Help. Call 1-800-252-9240.

Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area
Serves Travis, Williamson, Hays and seven nearby counties from 6800 Burleson Road in Southeast Austin. Call 512-916-6062 for aging services, or 512-916-6178 (toll-free 888-622-9111) for HICAP benefits counseling.

Social Security Administration
Retirement and disability benefits, Part A and Part B enrollment, and Extra Help applications. Apply online at ssa.gov or call 1-800-772-1213 to find your nearest Austin-area office.
Transit, rides and meals

CapMetro Reduced Fare ID and MetroAccess
Riders 65 and older pay half price on CapMetro with a Reduced Fare ID. MetroAccess offers paratransit rides for people who qualify after an eligibility review. Call 512-389-7501.

Free volunteer rides to medical visits and errands for older adults in Travis, Williamson and parts of Hays and Bastrop counties. Call 512-472-6339 to check your address.

Check your hospital before you switch plans
Networks change every year. If you use Medicare Advantage in Austin, confirm your St. David's, Ascension Seton or Baylor Scott & White hospital is still in network for the new plan year.
