Medicare in Cedar Park
What Cedar Park residents should know
Cedar Park has a full hospital in town. Ascension Seton Cedar Park on Medical Parkway runs a 24/7 emergency room with a Level IV trauma designation. It is a certified stroke center and a recognized heart attack receiving hospital. It also offers orthopedics, robotic surgery, rehab, wound care, imaging and a lab on site. Ascension Seton Northwest on Research Boulevard in Austin adds another 24/7 emergency room, with urology care, imaging and rehab.
That ownership change matters for your plan. The hospital was Cedar Park Regional Medical Center until Ascension Seton took full ownership in 2025. A Medicare Advantage HMO usually keeps you inside one network, except for emergencies, so check that the hospital and your doctors are listed under the Ascension Seton name. A Medicare Supplement works another way. Plan G or Plan N lets you see any doctor in the country who accepts Medicare, with no referrals. You pay a monthly premium for that freedom. Most Advantage plans include Part D. With a Supplement, you buy a separate Part D plan, so check that your drugs and pharmacy are on its list.
Getting to appointments takes some planning. Cedar Park ended its city bus contract with CapMetro in 1998. Today the city runs LiNK Cedar Park, a rideshare program. You pay a $5 base fare and the city covers up to $10 of each ride, for up to 10 rides a month. LiNK also takes you to CapMetro's Lakeline Station for trips into Austin. Drive a Senior Northwest gives free volunteer rides to medical visits and the store for residents 60 and older. Call 512-250-5021. Its drivers do not have wheelchair vans.
Local help is close by. Treasure of the Hills Senior Center on Ridgewood Drive hosts adults 50 and older for cards, Sit and Fit exercise, shared meals and day trips. The Cedar Park Recreation Center on Main Street sells a Seniors 60+ membership. The new Cedar Park Public Library opened in the Bell District at 425 S. Parkwest Dr. in November 2024. For free one-on-one Medicare counseling, call the Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area at 512-916-6178, or the Texas HICAP line at 1-800-252-9240.
